Canon Update (for [community profile] dragonhaven)

Name: Espo
Character: Kairi
Series: Kingdom Hearts

Previous Canon Point: KHII: After the portal that returns her to Destiny Islands in The World That Never Was closes on Sora and Riku.
New Canon Point: Post KH3D: Dream Drop Distance's secret ending. Also, Kairi is now 16.
Why would you like to update to this point? Kairi's confirmed status as the final guardian of light and the last key, mainly. Basically her importance has shot up and that pleases me. Secondly as its on par with the boys in terms of time lines.

How will this affect their personality? No significant changes. She's not shown, nor does she do anything, long enough to really define anything new in her personality. However, the fact she wants to help her friends and be with them has not changed. If anything, her determination and resiliance seems to have grown whilst waiting on the Islands once more. She is not daunted by Yen Sid summoning her to train her before the final clash with Xehanort; by the time she arrives there, its clear she's accepted the challenge.

How will this affect their powers? Not so much in terms of fighting ability - if anything it will be beyond what the game gives her due to her time training in Dragon Haven, so it's more so leaning towards the status and actually being accepted as a trainee. Her fighting style is still very much guesswork though it is likely to be a mix of Aqua's as well as Sora and Riku's. Anyway, in the secret ending of Dream Drop Distance, Yen Sid learns that Kairi can wield a keyblade and chooses her as the Seventh and final guardian of light and summons her to the Mysterious Tower. It can be presumed that either he, Riku or Mickey (all being masters, though the prior retired, so more likely Riku or Mickey) are training her how to use her Keyblade and also the art of magic (though this may be relegated to Merlin and the fairies) in time for the final clash with Xehanort. Though that part is up in the air, at the very least, Kairi is particularly rare in the sense she is the last Princess of Heart and also the last Guardian of Light to protect those same Princesses.

Regarding Princesses of Heart, there's been a few more things added to their significance. In the original Keyblade War, after Kingdom Hearts was destroyed, the original light of the X-blade was shattered and divided into seven, and is the source of the seven pure hearts. Seven Lights existed to protect these Princesses from the Thirteen Darknesses. If all of the princesses are lost, the worlds will once again be plunged completely into darkness.

Dream Drop Distance also confirmed (in its summary of KH1) that Sora being restored from a Heartless by Kairi in KH1 was due to her status as Princess of Heart and the varying powers that go with it.

Would you like for this character to experience the canon update in crystal stasis or in dream format? Dream format, please.
